"It takes a community to raise a scientist." I hold educational outreach and mentorship to be fundamental pillars of scientific work. Below include some of the ways I have tried to lift up and support the next generation of STEMists.

Outreach

Coding Club

A weekly after school program for BGCC 8-12th grade students to learn how to code in python from graduate student mentors. Roles: Founder, President, Mentor

NURPH

A 7 week summer research experience for Chicago Public School high school students at NU. Roles: Co-Founder, Workshops Chair, Finance Chair

GradSWE

Graduate student club focused on improving inclusion and community for women and gender minorities in NU STEM programs. Role: Social Chair

Junior Science Club

Graduate student volunteer group leading twice monthly STEM experiments for K-5 students at a local Boys and Girls Club. Role: President

A Day in the Life of a STEMist

A virtual video and panel series connecting middle+high school students to who real scientists are and what they do. Roles: Panelist, Video Feature

DOO Spotlights
